From Untitled (Golden) | Minimalissimo

Yet another repost from Minimalissimo. This time, it’s about Felix Gonzales-Torres. I have 2 of his pieces in my office at work (posters of clouds and water) and I have 2 more of his pieces at home, stored away in the attic (the “somewhere better than this place” and “nowhere better than this place” posters). There’s something incredibly simple about G-T, and I really really like how the simplicity pushes my attention. This particular work is barely sensible from the simplistic description. It’s only when you engage in the work (taking a poster home, the physical act of parting the curtain) that you truly become part of the art work. His work doesn’t make sense until you’re part of it. I think that’s why I love it.
